Time to sit back and chronicle my S2000 build. As of June 2021, all the parts listed have been purchased and many are simply waiting for COVID shipping delays to ease up so they car arrive and be installed. The purpose of this thread is to document the transformation and history of Fujin and eventually as I catch up to the present state of the car in build, document the build further with regularity so you can all see how it progresses.

Fujin is Purchased


I first purchased my 2001 AP1 S2000 "Fujin" back in 2010 and have been in love with it ever since. Prior to owning this I had built an RSX Type S DC5 that I started down the path to convert into a "track" car by building a Type R clone. In 2008 I had wanted to buy an NSX or an S2000 as both of these were my dream cars but I was hesitant given the recession and my financial situation at the time. Luckily one day my fiancé coaxed me to consider buying an S2000. I opened up craigslist and the first hit was a success! Super low mileage(only 10k miles) Silverstone S2000 single owner no accidents and insanely low price. I went and test drove it and instantly could no longer enjoy my Type S.

1. Black radio door.
2. 16" 5 spoke alloy wheels (still had the original tires)
3. Factory brake pads (still original).
4. OEM Tonneau cover.

The first plan was to keep the car as stock as possible to enjoy driving it as is rather than heavily modify it. I would take it out for spirited driving, auto X events, some HDPE events and get used to learning how to drive RWD and how the car would handle.

I would quickly learn that the S2000 did not drive like my old Ford Ranger pickup. Yes they were both RWD but compared to my old truck, the S2000 was a true demon. It was unforgiving, it did not allow for mistakes, It snap over steered, screamed in corners, had that amazing go kart handling with that factory short shift. I was in love! :heart: :heart:

Fast forward now 11 years and the car has massively changed as have my plans for it (and frankly my financial situations).

I've decided to try and first retroactively document the car's original state and the "build through the decade" and events it was used in and parts as I documented them looking back through hundreds of old photos, napkin sketches, dream cars and parts I wished I could afford. I then will catch everyone up to speed with the official build plan as made with Blacktrax and then document real time phase wise the plan as it comes to completion.

First Modifications: Headlights, Front Lip, Radio Door and Side Markers


One of the first things I decided to do early on with Fujin was to get the OEM AP1 Lip installed on the vehicle as well as as a CR Radio Door. To me I liked the contrast of the Carbon Fiber/Kevlar print on the radio door and having the AP1 Lip gave the car a more aggressive stance that appealed to me. In addition shortly there after I really wanted to get rid of the Amber side lenses on the car and switch over to a JDM style lenses. I was able to get a set of very nice "clear" lenses from Ricks2k (Now long gone). I was also able to get some AP2 side markers from Hardtop Guy.

At this point the car was looking far more like I wanted it to and was managing to stay as OEM looking as it could.
